Timeline PhotosMelbourne2020 are heartbroken about the devastating impact the bushfires are having on people around our nation, their livelihoods and our environment.
Melbourne2020 would like to extend our support to all those have lost loved ones and who have been impacted by this disaster. We are particular aware that while Kylie Koala has been our roving ambassador the fate of the large populations of Koalas in Australia hangs in the balance. To this end Melbourne2020 will be donating to the Wildlife Victoria Bushfire Appeal targeted at caring for injured koalas and wildlife and restoring environments that have been lost.

We would also encourage our participants to donate what they can to this worthy cause. We would also encourage that if your travel schedules permit, why not pay a visit to one of our regional centres throughout NSW and Victoria to support local businesses where possible.

Melbourne2020 will continue to monitor air quality levels and have contingency plans in place in consultation with Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in the event of hazardous air quality conditions. In these events we will be able to relocate the events from the Outdoor Pool to the Indoor Pool. We want to ensure the health and wellbeing of ALL our visitors and competitors. Further advice and more detail on these contingency plans and how they will be communicated and implemented will be provided in the coming weeks.
