TNYA Swim and Dive Camp 2013

Swimming Hall of FameTeam New York Aquatics is hosting its annual Swim and Dive Camp from March 31 to April 6 at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and welcomes all IGLA team members to join them for some fun in the sun.  The week-long training will include:

  • two 2-hour swimming practices per day in long course meters and short course yards
  • two 2-hour diving practices per day on one-meter and three-meter boards
  • a thirty-minute dryland session before every practice
  • daily one-hour stroke clinics
  • courses in mental relaxation and visualization
  • an optional open-water swim in Miami on April 6:
  • team social events
  • and plenty of sun bathing

This year’s camp will be led by four coaches, with spots limited to ensure individual attention.

  • David Hildebrand, a former Division-I swimmer for the College of William and Mary, coaches and swims for TNYA and is head coach of the Fashion Institute of Technology.  His forte is technique and he aims to make stroke improvement integral to the camp.
  • Returning for his second year as a guest coach at the TNYA Camp, Matt Kinney has built top-ranked men’s and women’s swim teams at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.  Matt was a huge addition to last year’s camp and he is eager to uphold his reputation.
  • Croft Vaughn is a veteran diver and coach, and is the bedrock of the TNYA diving team.  Prior to joining TNYA in 2011, he both competed and coached for New York University.  Croft’s divers made significant strides at last year’s camp and went on to win at IGLA.
  • With a Master’s in Exercise Physiology, Rachel Cutler is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and a certified USA Triathlon coach, as well as a triathlete herself.  Rachel will lead dryland workouts and will join David and Matt in coaching swimming.

Registration is $300 for one sport, or $450 for both, which includes the welcome and farewell social events.  Athletes must arrange travel and accommodation independently, but TNYA has negotiated a rate of $159 plus tax per night with a maximum of four people per room, directly across the street from the pool at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach.
